Lake Osoyoos sits right on the USA/Canada border and is both remote and beautiful. The logo drew direct inspiration from the waters and lands surrounding it. Stylistically, we played with natural geometry, gaining insight from sunbeams, reflections, and vineyard rows. Typographically, the logo plays with the idea of a ranch brand. The letter style is accessible and sweeping like the land of the area.

With the subjects of the illustrations being cactuses and flowers, Lindsay Bridenthal was inspired by art nouveau and its organic elements, as well as block printed wallpaper from the 30-40s due to the method of printing chosen for the label.

Lindsay Bridenthal brought her considerable talent to the table in developing the native plantlife featured on each varietal. Because these bottles are screen printed, we worked to create a style and approach that would bring these illustrations to life through the nature of the technique. Layout-wise, we had the opportunity to utilize the whole 360 degrees of the bottle cylinder. By thinking beyond just the visible side of the bottle, you increase the likelihood that you spark curiosity in that object. If you prompt people to pick up that bottle, you are likelier to make that sale.

With the illustrations being made with stacks of inked tracing paper and each color having its own layer, keeping everything lined up was difficult and meticulous work. Creating the design by hand resulted in an organic hand carved feeling that would have been difficult to reproduce digitally. The different layers were then scanned into a digital format where colors could be adjusted before coming to a final color palette.

The Hi-Oasis wine bottle has made a significant impact. Those who buy a bottle typically hold onto it long after the wine is gone because of its beauty. Talk about building connections!
